Visit of shri Parbatbhai Patel, Minister of State for Water Supply, Health and Family welfare Govt. of Gujarat. to Sri Sathya Sai Seva Campus, Althan, Surat
On 24th July, 2011 at 9:45 am Shri Parbatbhai Patel - Minister of State for Water Supply, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Gujarat, visited all the departments in the medical centre as well as Sri Sathya Sai School, Surat. He also had a brief conversation with the patients who were operated for Cataract.

Later he addressed to the devotees, students and teachers of the school at Prashanti Hall. He appreciated the service activities carried out by the devotees at the medical centre and expressed his high regards for the value education being imparted in the school as guided by Bhagwan., He acknowledged the work done by Bhagwan for the humanitarian purpose from depth of his heart.

The session ended with Arti offered to Bhagwan by the guest.
Annual Award Function - 2011
The Annual Award Function organized by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Surat and inspired by Smt. Jahnvikaben Rameshchandra Upadhya and Late Dr. Rameshchandra Upadhya was held on 24th July 2011, between 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Gandhi Smruti Bhavan, Surat.

The function commenced with three omkar. Sri Sathya Sai School boys chanted the veda while the Chief Guest Shri Parbatbhai Patel - Minister of State for Water Supply, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Gujarat and Guest of Honour Shri Manohar G. Trikannad, State President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, Gujarat lighted the lamp.
Internationally renowned artist Shri Chirag Mahida from Baroda performed a stunning dance with ten pots on his head and showed different stunts by rotating plates simultaneously while dancing. One more such artist Shri Rajendra Raval made different formations like peacock, pigeon and rabbit with cloth while dancing, he also showed different stunts with swords which was breathtaking.

After the cultural programme Shri Chittranjanbhai Patel welcomed the Guests and invitees and introduced the guests. Shri Manohar G. Trikannad felicitated the guests with flowers and shawl. He gave the glimpse of the activities carried out by Sai devotees in 185 countries, but he very humbly said that this work was not done by the devotees, they are just the chosen instruments by Bhagwan, and ultimately Sai is the doer.
The chief guest Shri Parbatbhai Patel - Minister of State for Water Supply, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Gujarat, addressed the people. In his speech he said that the service activities which Swami has done in his life span cannot be done by an ordinary man, that is why he is worshipped all over the world as God. He appealed to the people to visit the Sai centers where the service activities are carried out free of cost, so that one gets inspired to donate generously as these organizations do not appeal for money.

Shri Sunilbhai Patel, ex corporator, a special invitee for the function, was falicitated with a shawl and flower by Shri Parbatbhai Patel. The land where the medical centre and school are located was donated by Shri Sunilbhai Patel during his tenure as sarpanch, Althan village Gram panchayat.

A sewing machine was donated to a needy woman as a service activity. Finally the awards were honoured by the chief guest Shri Parbatbhai Patel, Shri Manohar G. Trikannad and Smt. Jahnvikaben Upadhya, the donor of all the awards.

The recipients of the awards were the rankers (Boys and Girls) of the final year MBBS, BAMS, Research Scholar, Dept. of Bio-Science who were honoured with gold plated silver medal and appreciation certificate. Three NGOS recommended by blood banks for collecting maximum blood units, crematorium, cancer detection centre and various departments of Sri Sathya Sai medical centre who render free services to the society and also Sri Sathya Sai School for imparting value education to the students were honoured with a cash prize and appreciation certificate.

The programme ended with national anthem.



Sri Sathya Sai Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition
Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Surat & Prashanti Charitable Trust had organized "Sri Sathya Sai Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition" for College Students on Thurshday25th August -2011 from 9.30 am onwards at Prashanti hall, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Sankul, Althan, Surat.

The Subject was "Are human values necessary in Life? Why? The competition was started with chanting of three omkars followed by lighting the lamp with veda chanting by the students of Sri Sathya Sai School, Surat.

15 girls & 16 boys total 31 students from 31 colleges of Surat city have actively participated in said elocution competition, specially from Medical, Engineering, Business Managements, Arts, Science, Commerce, Bio-Tech, Pharmacy & other educational institutes. All participants had expressed their logical views on the human Values in a nice manner.

Winners were honored with Prizes, Certificates and Swami's Books. Certificates of participation & Swami's Divine Photographs were given to all participants. The competition was inaugurated by Hon.Shri Virangbhai Bhatt (Dy. News Editor,Divya Bhashkar ). Hon.Shri Manohar G.Trikannad (State President, SSSS Org.Guj) was the chief guest of the function.

Dr.Kirtidaben Vaidya (M.Sc.M.Phil,Ph.D) Associate Prof. at B. P. Baria Science Institute Navsari, Prof. Shiv Prasad Dubey (Retd.) B.E. (Hons) Mech.M.E.(Hons) IITR, Chartered Engineer, Motivator, Educator & Spiritual Follower and Dr.Jasubhai Patel (M.A.,B.Ed., M.Phil ,Ph.D) Prof .of Gujarati at Arts & Commerce College, Olpad, Surat had rendered their services as judges. A short Documentary film on Swami's life & mission was shown to participants. Competition was concluded with offering Arti to Swami. State President Shri Manohar G. Trikannad has called upon all participants on very next Sunday on 28th Aug.20011 for follow-up Spiritual interaction.

In the follow up programme participants have shown keen interest in our activities. All the participant will be informed regarding our regular activities so that they can participate in our regular activities. It has been decided to send English Sanathan Sarathi to all the participants from our organization.


Water distribution during Ganesh Visarjan
On the auspicious occasion of "Ganesh Visarjan" procession, on 11th September,2011 Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Rander-Adajan, Surat had arranged the distribution of drinking water to the participants by putting up a drinking water hut (measuring 45'X15') on the main road. Around 10,000 liters of cold drinking water mixed with sugar and vibhuti was distributed to 33,000 people during the day. More than 22,000 Ganesh Idols were immersed on this day. 31 Sevadal members inclusive of Sai Youth boys and girls rendered their services. It started at 9:30am in the morning with 3 Omkars and ended with Shanti mantra at 9:30pm


Blood Donation Camp
During these three months four blood donation camps were organized at different places in surat city with the help of Surat Raktadan Kendra.239 units of blood were collected.
GRAM SEVA AT SELJAR AND UMRADA VILLAGES UNDER SSSVIP BY SURAT & SACHIN SAMITI
With Bhagwan's blessing Sai Youth and Senior Sevadals visited SSSVIP village Seljar and Umarda villages.

Before two weeks the Gram Seva activities was deliberately planned by Sai Youth under advice and guidance of District president. As rainy season was just completed, a Medical Camp was planned for the villagers. Cloth Distribution, Plantation, Maha Narayan Seva, Bal Vikas class and Mother & Child Care program were also planned. Every Sai Youth / Sevadal was assigned duties for above activities well in advance.

A convoy of six four wheelers left Surat in early morning with 30 Sai Youth & Sevadals and after covering a long distance of 104 k.m. and two and half hour of journey all reached Seljar village where a warm welcome was given with the word 'Sairam' by villagers. Pre arrangement was done by village youth. Samiyana was erected at school ground for Medical camp and Naryan seva. Class rooms were opened by school teachers for Bal Vikas and Mother & Child Care program.

After a short introduction District president along with school teachers lighted the lamp with chanting of Omkaram.

Doctor Shri Upendra Mishra, who is Bhagwan's devotee from his young days, offered his humble service within a short notice. 167 patients were examined and were given necessary medicines.
Nitinbhai - a village youth of Seljar who has gone to Puttaparthi in June seva, is helping doctor as a translator. Doctor was unaware of the local language. Nitinbhai was transformed and very emotionally exclaimed about his experience of Parthi seva.
"In june, when I went to Prashanti for Seva, I got an opportunity to serve in Super Specialty Hospital in Dietary section. I was assigned a task of serving food to the patient. After having Bhagwan's Darshanam, when I came back to my village I realized importance of seva and actively participated in Medical camp organized by Sai Samiti in our villag. It benefited our village as nearest hospital is far away from here."

Senior Balvikas Guru along with Sai youth sisters under took Balvikas class. 129 children from both villages were present. They were taught Shloka and Bhajan.
Sadanandbhai, Umarda school teacher very energetically participated in Balvikas. He was very much impressed with Bhagwan's educational activities he told "For the development of young children, Sanskruti and Sanskar. They are imparted in the Balvikas class are very much helpful. In Medical camp or in Narayan seva when the entire village gathers, an atmosphere of bliss and unity is created. I believe Bhagawan fees happy when we are united. It's not necessary that you give something to villagers every time you come, but the words spoken by the Sai Youth are very much encouraging for us. Five hours you spend in serving after a long journey, the villagers realize it and gets motivated."

Idaljeebhai Gamit, an inspiring school teacher of Seljar School, who was always there in every activity. He also shared his experience. He was very much happy with the village development work. He said "Some of our village youth visited Puttapart and after returning they shared their experiences. It was a great motivational factor for them and they got inspired to join Sai activity. The health & hygiene kit, which was given to village children was a necessity. In Balvikas class, young kids are taught our sanskruti through plays and songs. It is indeed very much helpful."

For mother and child care 105 ladies were present. Senior ladies and Sai Youth sisters talked with village ladies about there care of health by way of yoga and exercise. All the women who were present were given information regarding child food and child vaccination. In General medical camp, Village ladies were examined and were given medicines. Clothes were distributed to needy 81 villagers.

In Maha Narayan seva, 446 people from both villages were served Bhagawan's prasadm. After chanting food prayer, sai youth of Songad and Surat distributed Prasadam.

Garadnbhai, a village elder who fractured his leg in an accident, no one was there to help him, but Sai Youth of Songad took him to the doctor and necessary treatment was given. His only son stays away from him in the same village; Sai youth approached him and advised him to take care of his father. Time to time medicine and food provision under Sri Sathya Sai National Narayan seva were provided by Sai youth. Gardanbhai was so much thankful for this, when he spoke his voice was chocked with emotions and gratitude for Bhagawan.

"After you came to our village 50 to 60 % of all-round development has taken place. People who were addicted with alcohol and tobacco left their bad habits. With medical camp villagers are benefitted and they very happy. Before 8 month my leg was fractured. Since then I am walking with the help of stick, but during this time I got the help from Sai youth in the form of medicine and food provision. I am very much grateful to Sai Baba".
100 guava and custard apple plants were planted in both the villages with chanting of Sai Gayatri mantra,in front of selected houses.
